Since our establishment McDonald Safaris has always been a family owned and operated safari company spanning over three generations, and who’s reputation speaks for itself.

The company was established in the 50’s with the late Alex C McDonald guiding safaris in Kenya, Botswana and South Africa. Alex Snr had a profound passion for conservation without desire for recognition which led him to instrumental founding and establishment of national parks, protected areas, and converting land under livestock into successful wildlife management area. His pioneering actions have paved the way in many conservation and safari arenas baring fruit of his efforts today and for generations to come.

In the late 80’s and early 90’s Sandy McDonald grew the company to operate in some of the finest destinations across Southern and Eastern Africa. To continue his father’s legacy, Sandy continues to participate to numerous industry level and high-level platforms for the sole purpose of contributing to the longevity of sustainable utilization of our land’s natural resources. Furthermore, his efforts have seen him establish safari and conservation areas which are now household name in the hunting industry.

Alex Jnr initially joined the family business parttime between studies, travels and internships at the age of 19 which provided a head start at gaining invaluable experience under legendary professional hunters, landowners and industry role players before joining fulltime. His passion for the hunting industry grew and promotes the importance of offering exclusive and well managed destinations, as well as unique experiences suited for both hunters and their companions alike, whilst the essence of a true hunting experience remains unspoiled.
